"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."

~Friedrich Nietzsche

I actually think this is the greatest peril facing those in education, service, government, politics...really anyone that feels invested in the process of larger community communication. It seems that the more we face ignorance and throw ourselves into the melee of trying to bring our respective visions of social progress to fruition, the harder-edged we become. Suddenly, we start to equate complaining with social critique, cynicism with intelligence, entropy with time. And I'm not even saying any of those equations are wrong. I just...don't want the abyss to win. I refuse to monsterized by nothingness.

  1. This is something I've always been wary or over-cautious of...and it still sometimes creeps up on you...

  2. Oh...and we can't see the last two "readers reactions" thingies you added. I tried to add about 5-6 too and had the same problem. Apparently, they're all visible only if they stay in one line :(
