“Sweet, crazy conversations full of half sentences, daydreams and misunderstandings more thrilling than understanding could ever be.”

~Toni Morrison, Beloved

My favorite misunderstanding: that glass is actually a slow-moving liquid.

  1. Technically, scientists are still working this one out. A largely-accepted term for the category of substances that glass falls into is "amorphous solids." They're solids, but behave differently than most. The article below talks about some of the things they're discovering, ie, glass is like a traffic jam on the interstate.

And I agree with Morrison; not quite understanding glass is more thrilling than being able to define it concisely.
