This is why still have McDonald's when my favorite deli went out of business, why the porn industry is worth billions of dollars when almost nobody reads Anais Nin, and why Firefly got cancelled while Jersey Shore rakes in the ratings.

It is not that people lack good taste. It's that everyone's excellent taste is too quirky to gain critical mass. I find that comforting, somehow.

(I think I have showed great restraint in limiting myself to one DFW quote a week.)
